How this works
Tesamorelin is a stabilized GHRH analog that binds GHRH receptors on pituitary somatotrophs, stimulating synthesis and pulsatile release of endogenous growth hormone. The trans-3-hexenoyl modification enhances resistance to enzymatic degradation, extending half-life relative to native GHRH. Clinical trials in HIV-associated lipodystrophy demonstrate significant reductions in visceral adipose tissue, triglycerides, and liver fat, with effects that reverse upon discontinuation. Unlike exogenous recombinant GH, tesamorelin preserves the physiologic GH feedback loop, avoiding sustained supraphysiological IGF-1 elevation.
